What is Pilates?

Pilates is a series of low-impact exercises and stretches evolved from German born, Joseph Pilates.  The exercises are performed on different apparatuses including the Reformer, Trapeze table, Mat, Spine Corrector, Wunda Chair, Barrel and springboard.  Pilates movements will stabilize and strengthen the core optimising postural alignment, define and challenge the small and global muscles, align and elongate the body and improve mobility.   Pilates teaches coordination,  mental and spiritual rejuvenation, self-confidence and overall integration of the mind, body and spirit.  The different movements are performed in a repertoire that meets the needs of the individual client whether it be rehabilitation or new overall fitness goals.  Anyone can move with Pilates from the professional dancer working on alignment, an expecting prenatal mother, the eighty year young rehabilitation client to the athlete.  Pilates is for EVERY BODY.

MEET Rylee

Rylee's journey in Pilates started in 2003 whilst taking a Pilates mat class at UCSB. Rylee found that Pilates helped with lower back pain but also strengthened and lengthened the body at the same time. She was hooked!

Cottier Pilates was founded by Rylee Savage Cottier in 2016 while living in Australia, Rylee was certified through Polestar Pilates International (the leading science based pilates certification) in Comprehensive Mat Pilates.  She later returned to USA to continue her Pilates Studio Comprehensive Certification through Studio Pilates 209 a Polestar education studio and Polestar Pilates Educator Mette Hansen.  Rylee is additionally a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT, formally known as PMA-CPT).  As well as, Burn At The Barre, a barre certification program through Pilates Sports Center.
She is passionate about pre/post pregnancy training, healing through movement, incorporating barre and pilates in each session and the connection between the mind, body and spirit.
